Reducing waste: The impact of our clothes swap parties
2 minute read

We’re always looking for ways to minimise waste and make more sustainable choices. One of our favourite initiatives? Organising clothes swap parties!
Not only do they help reduce textile waste, but they also bring our team together in a fun and meaningful way. And the best part? Any leftover donations go straight to our local charity partner, LifeHouse, to support those in need.
How our clothes swap party’s work
Our ESG department schedule parties throughout the year, we encourage our team to bring in gently used clothes, shoes, and accessories they no longer wear. We then set up a swap event where everyone can browse and pick out "new-to-them" pieces - giving pre-loved items a fresh lease on life. It's a fantastic way to refresh our wardrobes without spending money or contributing to the fast fashion cycle.
This year, we’re switching it up! We’re expanding the swap to include baby clothes, toiletries, home accessories, and more, making it even more accessible and impactful.
Why we love it
Hosting these swaps has become more than just a sustainable practice - it’s a tradition we genuinely enjoy!
Here’s why:
Less waste, more impact – By swapping instead of buying new, we cut down on textile waste and the environmental impact of clothing production.
A wardrobe refresh for everyone – One person’s "what was I thinking?" outfit is another’s "where has this been all my life?" look! It’s always fun to see great pieces get a second chance.
Giving back to LifeHouse – Any leftover items that don’t get swapped are donated to LifeHouse, a local charity doing incredible work to support individuals experiencing homelessness. Knowing that our pre-loved clothing will directly help those in need makes this initiative even more special.
Small actions, big change
By hosting these clothes swap parties, we’re not only reducing waste but also fostering a culture of conscious consumption and community support.
Would you consider hosting a swap party in your workplace or community? It’s sew easy to do (see what we did there) and trust us, it’s a simple yet impactful way to make a positive change - for the planet and for people!
